Saturday night in Washington Union Terminal

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tom @ 8:23 pm

About half of the 29 cars bound for Chattanooga arrived over the last 24 hours, and are parked in various places all over the station. The Mount Vernon is on power and tied down for the night on track 30 along with the Cimmaron River, Pacific Sands, and Suitsme. Station is really quiet. Chef Charles is out with Owner Jack doing some last minute shopping. Beautiful night in Washington.

  1. Are the Cimmeron River, Pacific Sands and Suitsme also rail cars? Or are they racehorses?

  2. Railroad cars. Pacific Sands and Mount Vernon are sister cars, both from the same 1950 order that Union Pacific placed with the Budd Company of Philadelphia. Cimmaron River had the same configuration, but came from Pullman Standard.

  3. Hey Tom, it’s Bjorn it was great running into you in Asheville, greatly enjoyed the Red Oak tremendously, thank you. Here are some snaps I made in Asheville. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.3966619278580.2158007.1073351142&type=3

  4. Hi Bjorn–Thanks for the ride back to the car and for hanging out and listening to my tired ramblings. The steward (me) was doing the chef’s job; the owner (Jack) was doing the stewards job; and the chef was at the Biltmore enjoying the night off.
